Set up for local tax rules and data protection
Odoo includes localisations for both the UK and Kenya. We configure and test them as part of every project, and your accountant signs off the tax settings before go-live. Talkcoms sets up the system; we do not give accounting or tax advice.
Every user has a named account with access based on their role, Odoo logins are protected with two-factor authentication, and client data is never kept on personal devices. Before we handle your data, we agree data processing terms with you in writing, in line with Kenya's Data Protection Act 2019.

Common questions
How long does an Odoo implementation take?
A rollout of a few apps for a small team typically takes 6 to 10 weeks. Projects with several departments, data migration and custom work take 3 to 6 months. You get a timeline after discovery.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the number of users, the apps you need, the data to migrate and any custom work. After discovery you receive a fixed quote, in GBP for UK clients and KES for Kenyan clients. The Odoo subscription is paid to Odoo separately.
Which Odoo versions do you work with?
Odoo 17, 18 and 19, in both the Community and Enterprise editions. We also upgrade older databases to a current version.
Can you move our data from our current system?
Yes. We migrate from spreadsheets, Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, older Odoo versions and any other system that can export its data. We run a trial migration and reconcile balances with you before the final switch.
Does Odoo work with KRA eTIMS?
Yes. Odoo's Kenya localisation reports invoices, credit notes and stock movements to KRA through an OSCU device. We help with your eTIMS service request, product registration and testing before go-live.
Does Odoo do Kenyan payroll?
Yes. Odoo Payroll has a Kenya localisation that calculates PAYE and produces NSSF and SHIF reports, P9 cards and payslips. We set it up and confirm other statutory deductions with you.
Can customers pay through M-Pesa?
Yes. We connect Odoo to M-Pesa through Safaricom's Daraja API so payments are matched to the right invoices.
Should we use Odoo Online, Odoo.sh or our own server?
Odoo Online is the simplest option but does not allow custom modules. Odoo.sh and your own server allow custom development but need more technical management. We recommend one during discovery.
